Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions based on confirmed DataJot behavior.

I deleted a category. Are my series deleted?

No. A category only organizes series.

When you delete a category, the series remain in DataJot. They become uncategorized and remain accessible from the dashboard.

What is the difference between deleting a series and deleting all its measures?

Deleting a series removes the series and all measures it contains.

Deleting all measures only clears the history. The series remains with its name, category, unit, and settings.

If you want to start over while keeping the structure, delete the measures. If you no longer want to track that data at all, delete the series.

Why do statistics change when I change the period?

Statistics are calculated from what is displayed in the current period.

If you switch from a week to a month, DataJot is no longer looking at exactly the same set of values. Granularity and aggregation method can also change the reading.

Why does my CSV export not match the chart exactly?

The chart can display aggregated values. CSV export contains raw measures.

For example, if three measures of 1 are added on the same day, the chart can display 3 for that day, while the CSV contains three separate rows.

Why does a specific threshold apply to a value?

Thresholds are evaluated in order.

DataJot uses the first threshold whose condition matches the value. If several thresholds can match, list order matters.

Does deleting a unit delete my series?

No. A unit structures display and conversions, but it does not own series.

If a series no longer uses a unit, it loses the associated unit information. The series remains.

Can a visualization configuration be reused?

Yes. The same configuration can be associated with several series.

This is useful for keeping a coherent reading, but it also means that one change can influence several series using that configuration.

Can I correct a value that was already added?

Yes. Open the measure list for the series, select the relevant measure, then edit its value or date.

This correction updates the existing measure. It does not create a second entry.

Do widgets create data?

The add measure widget can create a measure with the configured value.

The chart widget displays a series and range, but does not create data.

What should I do if information is missing?

The documentation must stay aligned with the app. If a behavior is not confirmed in the app or technical reference, it should not be presented as available.
